David Lam, Ph.D., Chairman, Board of Directors, Qcept Technologies Inc. and Chairman, David Lam Group

Dr. David Lam is chairman of David Lam Group, an investment and advisory firm for high-tech companies. He is also a Venture Partner at DynaFund Ventures. David advises management of emerging technology enterprises at various stages of growth and in a variety of fields including semiconductor and semiconductor equipment, micro- and nano-device manufacturing, computer hardware and software, networks and communications, medical device and biotech.

David is probably best known for Lam Research (NASDAQ: LRCX), which he founded in 1980. Under his guidance, the company introduced the industry's first fully automated plasma etching system for semiconductor manufacturing in 1981, and established a market beachhead in Japan through a strategic partnership in 1982. Lam Research went public in 1984 and has since become a global leader in semiconductor capital equipment. David also served as CEO of Caliper Technologies (NASDAQ: CALP), a biotech company focused on lab-on-a-chip technologies that went public in 2000. He serves on private company boards and is chairman of Microfabrica and Multibeam Systems.

David received his B.S. in Engineering Physics from the University of Toronto, and his M.S. and Sc.D. in Chemical Engineering, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Bret Bergman, Chief Executive Officer, Qcept Technologies Inc.

Bret has 16+ years of technology industry experience including operating roles with three prior early stage technology companies (two of which had successful IPO's) from VP of Marketing & Strategy at Internet Security Systems, Inc. to COO at Nexchange Corporation. Bret also spent three years with McKinsey & Co.  Bret serves on the board of directors of The Atlanta Speech School.

Bret received his bachelor's degree in Marketing from the University of Vermont and his M.B.A. from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University where he was designated a Fuqua Scholar - the highest academic distinction awarded.

Richard (Dick) Cook, Senior Advisor, Focus Enterprises

Dick is a Senior Advisor with Focus Enterprises, an investment banking firm that provides services tailored to the needs of middle-market and small businesses.  He is the former President & CEO of MAPICS, Inc. (Nasdaq/NM: MAPX). MAPICS, a software company with customers implemented in over 10,000 sites around the globe, was spun out of Marcam Corporation and Dick successfully led its Public Offering in 1997. Dick has 25 years of experience as an executive with IBM, where he held a number of assignments in plants and laboratories. He was the 2003 chairman of the board of the AeA, a national high tech trade association representing 3200 American companies.  He is a member of the board of several software companies; PrimeRevenue, Edgenet, and Air Conditioning Warranty, a privately held Florida corporation.  He is chairman of the compensation committee for Qcept Technologies.

Dick received his B.S. degree from Florida Atlantic University.

Steven Danyluk, Ph.D., Founder, Qcept Technologies Inc.

Steve is an expert in the development of sensors for the detection of surface chemistry and metrology and holds multiple patents. He has an extensive background in semiconductor materials science and began his career as a staff member at Texas Instruments in 1973. He holds the Morris M. Bryan Jr. Chair in Mechanical Engineering for Advanced Manufacturing Systems and is Director of the Manufacturing Research Center at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Prior to joining Georgia Tech, he was the founding Director of the Manufacturing Research Center at the University of Illinois.

Steve received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware and his Ph.D. from Cornell University in Materials Science and Engineering.

Markus Mittermaier, Investment Associate, Siemens Venture Capital (“SVC”)

Markus originally joined SVC in January 2000 when he worked in the Munich and Silicon Valley offices for two years and was involved in transactions in Europe and the US. Prior to rejoining SVC as an Investment Associate in the Boston office in July 2006 he worked at Citigroup's Investment Banking Division in London and managed his own online recruitment firm while at university.  His primary areas of investment are Energy, Environment, New Materials and Industry / Industrial Infrastructure.  He is a Board Observer at Reactive Nanotechnologies (RNT), Inc. and was a board observer at Digital Envoy, Inc. (acquired by Landmark Communications in June 2007).

Markus was a Siemens Scholar at the University of Oxford from which he graduated with a double first class Master of Engineering in Materials Science, Economics and Management.  He also was a scholar of the Armourers and Brasiers Company, London and the Kurt Fordan Trust, Munich.


Paul H. O'Neill, Director, Eastman Kodak Company

Paul is a Special Advisor and Consultant to The Blackstone Group and a member of the firm's Domestic Advisory Board, with a focus on advising the firm's private equity funds' portfolio companies on operational and related issues, and assisting the firm in analyzing potential private equity investment opportunities. He is currently a Director of Eastman Kodak Company (NYSE: EK). Paul served as the 72nd Secretary of the United States Treasury from 2001 to 2002. Previously, he was Chairman and CEO of Alcoa (NYSE: AA) from 1987 to 1999, retiring as Chairman at the end of 2000. He was President of International Paper Company from 1985 to 1987, where he was Vice President from 1977 to 1985. O'Neill was on the staff of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget from 1967 to 1977, serving as Deputy Director from 1974 to 1977.

He worked as a computer systems analyst with the U.S. Veterans Administration from 1961 to 1966. Paul received his B.S. in Economics from Fresno State College in California, and his M.S. in Public Administration from Indiana University.

Andrew P. Seamons, Vice President, Private Investments, Pittco Capital Partners, LLC

Andrew is a partner of Pittco Capital Partners, LLC, a Memphis, Tennessee based private equity firm.  The firm is privately held by J.R. “Pitt” Hyde III, the founder and former chairman and CEO of AutoZone, Inc. (NYSE: AZO).  From September 2000 to October 2002, Andrew was a partner at the venture capital firm of Paradigm Capital Partners, LLC.  From October 1999 to September 2000, Andrew served as a vice president of LendingTree, Inc., a North Carolina based Internet lending marketplace, where he served as general manager for that company’s business-to-business services organization.  From July 1992 to October 1999, Andrew served as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company.  Andrew also serves on the board of directors of Internet Pictures Corporation (NASDAQ: IPIX) and Memphis Networx, both Paradigm portfolio companies, and LaneScan, Report on Board, and Monogram Food Solutions. 

Andrew holds an M.S. in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School and a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Duke University.
